FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Evolved Mental Health
  • Do you take insurance?
We are in net-work with: Regence BSOR, Pacific Source, Providence Health Plans, CIGNA, Jackson Care Connect, and MODA (on a single case agreement, revised contract due to be completed May 2024).
  • What if I have out-of-network insurance?
Depending on your out-of-network insurance benefits, you may be reimbursed for some or all of the session fees. Reimbursement percentages vary; some patients receive 100%, while others may receive none. Many fall within the range of 50-80% after meeting a deductible. We can provide a general estimate of what your policy might cover. For accurate information, we recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card and asking the following questions: 1. Do I have out-of-network coverage for psychiatry? 2. If yes, is there a deductible, and if so, have I met it? 3. What percentage of fees will be covered? 4. What is the allowable amount for the following codes: 99204, 99205, 99213, 99214, 90833, 90836, 90838?
  • What if I don't have insurance?
EMH has a self-pay fee schedules. Please reach out to our office for more information and to see if you qualify.
  • What ages do you work with?
McKenzie sees patients across the life span, ages 6-63. However, exceptions to this age range may be considered based on pre-arrangements. These exceptions are carefully evaluated and determined on a case-by-case basis.
  • What if I am only interested in psychotherapy?
McKenzie does accept individual psychotherapy clients. However, EMH is a small private practice that maintains a small caseload to uphold quality care. Therapy clients are seen more frequently and so a finite therapy caseload is managed. McKenzie is most passionate in providing somatic psychotherapy which is a body based therapy to help healing on a cellular level. Currently accepting clients who are interested in this type of therapeutic intervention.
  • Where do you see clients?
We operate as a hybrid practice, offering sessions both online through a secure video platform connected to the patient portal and in-person at our physical office in Grants Pass, Oregon. While some situations may necessitate periodic in-person meetings, especially when dealing with controlled substances, the majority of appointments can be conducted online.
  • Is EMH anti-medication?
No, we're not against using medication. If we believe medication could be beneficial, we'll discuss it with you, outlining the advantages and disadvantages. Our goal is to provide you with the information necessary for you to make informed decisions in line with your values. We advocate for whatever approach allows each individual to thrive, without any preconceived judgments about what that approach should be.
  • Do you prescribe controlled substances, like stimulants or benzodiazepines?
We do prescribe controlled substances, such as stimulants or benzodiazepines, provided that certain conditions are met. This includes an assessment to determine the appropriateness of the medication for your specific needs, your commitment to using it as prescribed, your ability to monitor your blood pressure and heart rate at home, and the requirement for scheduling an in-person meeting at least once and potentially occasional in-person meetings.
